May we be His vessels – vessels of honor to the Lord, Amen!īIBLE SCRIPTURES REFERENCES: * Please note as of November 26, 2021, each verse as best I can remember to do will be labeled as KJV or NKJV or with a different label signifying which Bible translation the verse is from! Follows is until this date info on verses. We who are His vessels need to take the utmost love and care to keep ourselves clean and pure for the Spirit of God to live in us and through us such that in our thoughts, words, and actions, we bring Him praise, we bring Him honor, and we bring the Lord glory. All of these contaminants need to be purged out of us so purely the Lord pours forth from us!Īs Christ’s followers, as His servants, as His very vessels, we need to vigilantly, consciously, decidedly, devotedly, carefully, and continually repent from any sin in the way of thoughts, words, or actions we’ve fallen into and be vigilant about keeping ourselves pure for the Spirit of Christ to live powerfully in and through us.Īre you God’s vessel? You have a responsibility. So what pours out of us isn’t purely the Spirit of God and the Word of God and His beautiful blessings but instead is a mix of the Lord and His will but also the contaminants and dirt and filth of flesh and self and sin like for example anger, hurt, bitterness, vengeance, worry, pride, and condemnation. We get lazy or irresponsible or negligent or forgetful or even rebellious when it comes to keeping our hearts and minds and bodies and lives clean and pure for the Lord to live inside us and through us. Sometimes that’s exactly what we who follow Jesus do with ourselves.

What pours out of the containers is no longer tasty and delicious and clean and healthy and pure and right because it’s been adversely affected by the dirt I’ve allowed to accumulate in their containers. Sometimes over the years I have been lazy or irresponsible or negligent or forgetful or even rebellious with cleaning out the cups and mugs and water pitchers I have used, and they get stained and dirty, and the drinks I drink from them are dirty and don’t taste so good and sometimes are even unhealthy because I haven’t kept their containers clean. We who follow Jesus are to be God’s vessels to be used by Him to love and glorify and serve Him and to love and serve others in His name while helping to build and encourage His forever Kingdom of followers, but just like a pitcher of water gets dirty and needs to be cleaned rather than simply continually filled with more and more water, we need to keep our vessels clean for the Lord so He can ever pour through us His Spirit and His Word, His love and all His endless blessings out onto the world all around us.

defines a vessel among other things as “a hollow or concave utensil, as a cup, bowl, pitcher, or vase, used for holding liquids or other contents.” Another definition is “a person regarded as a holder or receiver of something, especially something nonmaterial: a vessel of grace a vessel of wrath.” In that regard, are you God’s vessel? If you are a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, the very Spirit of God lives inside you! Do you contain within you the Spirit of God? Have you received Jesus Christ as Lord? Do you hold the Lord within you? Are you a vessel of His love, His mercy, His Truth, His grace, His hope, His peace, His compassion, His kindness, His gentleness, His comfort, His patience, His promises, His tenderness, His boldness, His strength, His courage, His provision, His gifts He has given you, His faith, His purpose, His calling, etc.?
